In a recent interview with Glamour, former gymnast and current Olympic gold medalist Lauren Beukes said she was inspired by her idol, gymnast Simone Biles.
In the interview, Beukes also talked about how she found her inspiration for her own gymnastics.
Beukes has been a gymnastics competitor since the age of 8, and since leaving the sport in 2016, she has been involved in many different projects, from running for the Democratic Party to running for mayor of Los Angeles.
Beuke said she started competing in gymnastics at an early age, but the sport has always remained her passion.
“Gymnastics is one of the greatest things that I’ve ever done, and I don’t think that I can ever forget the feeling of being able to do something that I love,” Beukes told Glamor.
“I think I’m a good athlete, but it’s also been a part of my life that I was always trying to be better.
It’s something that’s been part of me from the very beginning.”
Beukes competed in the 2016 Olympics and won gold in the team event.
She is currently training to compete in the 2018 Olympics.
Beukes’ Olympic dream came true when she was selected to represent the United States at the 2017 Rio Olympics.
The 23-year-old gymnast said she didn’t have any prior experience with gymnastics and wasn’t sure how the sport would work out, but she felt good about it.
“When I got picked up, I was like, ‘I’m going to try to do it,’ ” Beukes recalled of her Olympic selection.
“It’s hard to describe, but I felt like I was going to do pretty good.
I’m excited for it.”
Beuses was part of Team USA’s gymnastics team for the 2017 games in Rio, where she helped lead the United Kingdom to victory over Russia.
After that performance, Beuses was one of just five Americans to represent Team USA at the 2018 Winter Games in Pyeongchang, South Korea.
Beuses said that she is not too worried about the Olympics, but that she hopes to do well for the United Nations and other organizations.
“I’m excited about the future and I’m hoping that my career is something that is a bit more than just competing,” Beuses said.
“That’s what I’m looking forward to.”
Beukes hopes to make an impact in the Olympics.
“The world is waiting for me to show them what I can do,” she said.
