Male gymnast Vimala Pandya was hit by the train on Thursday afternoon and was taken to a hospital for treatment.
The accident took place near Kailash Ghat in the south-west of the state.
Pandya is a member of the Kailasthana Team, a gymnastics team from Mumbai, which competes in the J. League.
The train driver, Anupam Kumar Singh, is a trainee conductor and is also part of the team.
Pandyan’s father, Shailesh Pandya, said his son was in a bad state when he was hit.
He added that he is now recovering in a local hospital.
“My son is very lucky to be alive and he is in a very bad condition,” said Shailes Pandya.
“The train driver was not trained on safety and safety protocols and we are trying to find out how he got hit.
I hope his condition improves.
I will visit him soon.
I have already tried to get a taxi to take him to a doctor but it is not easy.
I want the driver to come back and do a proper investigation,” he added.
The incident occurred around 7:00 pm.
The Kailahasthan Gymnasium is located at the junction of the R.W. Khandelwal and N.P. Puram road.
The team, which trains on the campus, is also affiliated with the Bharatiya Gymnastic Federation (BGHF).
