As many of us are aware, gymnastics has always been the place where the best athletes compete.
And while there are still a lot of great athletes competing in the sport today, it’s important to remember that gymnastics isn’t always the most exciting sport.
Here are the 10 best gymnast abs of 2018.
1.
Lili Wang: Wang’s abs were pretty great for her.
She put on a solid show in Rio, showcasing incredible balance and mobility.
She won gold in the 5000-meter freestyle, but she also won the 100m butterfly, which was a huge highlight of the Olympics.
Wang’s amazing gymnastics abilities also make her one of the best freestyle athletes in the world.
Wang was one of only five women to compete in every Olympics since 1904.
2.
Kaitlyn Schmitt: Schmitt has done a good job at dominating gymnastics in the past.
After winning the 100-meter butterfly in the Olympics, Schmitt was one the best sprinters in history, winning the silver medal in the 100 back in 2008.
She’s been a big star at the U.S. Olympic Trials and was the first gymnast to win gold in a major competition since 1972.
3.
Lauren Hochberg: Hoch, like Schmitt, is a big talent.
She is one of just five gymnasts to win three Olympic gold medals and four World Championship medals.
Hoch also is one in a long line of women to win the freestyle crown since 1904, and she was the gold medalist at the 2012 London Olympics.
Hach has won two World Championships in the 400 free and won four gold medals in the individual medley.
Hoche is one to watch in the upcoming world championships.
4.
Gabby Douglas: Douglas is another great athlete who dominated gymnastics.
She has won the women’s freestyle title in three of the past four Olympics, the 200-meter backstroke and the 400 freestyle.
Douglas was the silver-medal winner in the 2012 Games and the gold-medallist in 2016.
5.
Alyssa Niedermeyer: Niedermayer was a dominant athlete at the 2010 Worlds, which helped her become a household name.
She also was a top-10 freestyle Olympian in 2016 and is one the top freestyle competitors in the entire world.
Niedermann is the only gymnast who won a World Championship medal in 2017.
6.
Emma White: White was one-half of the super-talented trio of Alyssah White and Emma McEntee, who won the gold at the 2016 Olympics.
She was one in line of five women in history to win four Olympic medals in a row.
She could win a third World Championship this year.
7.
Jessica Seinfeld: Seinfeld was one step away from a world title when she won the 2012 Olympics, but it didn’t go quite as planned.
She lost the 200 freestyle and 400 freestyles in the prelims, and was eliminated from the final.
But that was the last time the Olympic champions would compete in the finals.
8.
Kymriah Black: Black won a gold medal at the 2011 Olympics and won a silver medal at London.
She made it to the finals at the 2015 Games and won gold again at London in 2017, but her season ended with an injury.

She had a stellar season in 2017 at the Beijing Olympics and has made it into the finals four times.
