It’s a title many of the country’s gymnastics coaches are anticipating this summer.
Florida State, Clemson, Oregon, Notre Dame and North Carolina will all make the NCAA tournament, according to ESPN senior college basketball analyst Joe Lunardi.
“We’re expecting a lot of good teams this summer,” Lunardi said.
They know what to expect in this tournament. “
A lot of these teams are very familiar with the NCAA.
They know what to expect in this tournament.
So they’re going out there and they’re playing the best of the best and they have to show up in the tournament.”
The thing that you’re going for in college basketball is teams that can win championships, and I think this group is going to do that.
“The Seminoles, who will play against the No. 1 seed Clemson on Saturday in Atlanta, have won 11 of their last 12 NCAA tournament games.
They were the favorites to make the tournament in 2017-18, but they dropped their first two games in the first round against Florida State and Clemson.
Florida State and Oregon, who were expected to make it to the Sweet 16 in 2017, both had strong runs to the Final Four.
Clemson went on a 14-0 run to win its first tournament game in 20 years and beat the No.-1 seed Oklahoma State on Tuesday.
The Ducks have a chance to win back-to-back national titles in 2018 and 2019.
Lunardi noted Oregon had an off-season workout with the No, 1 seed North Carolina team and a preseason matchup with No. 3 seed Florida State.
The Ducks and Seminoles will face each other on Saturday, and Florida State has a chance at a third consecutive NCAA title.
Oregon’s Michael Bennett is averaging 18.5 points and 9.7 rebounds per game and the Ducks have won four straight to move into the No., 1 spot in the standings.
Florida State coach Mark Gottfried has averaged 19.2 points and 7.9 rebounds per contest in his first season in Gainesville.
The Seminoles have won six of their past seven games.
Florida’s Jordan Mickey has scored 23.5 per game, but his 19.9 points per game is the fewest in the country.
He has scored at least 18 points in three straight games and is averaging 24.4 points.
The Seminole and Ducks will play in a playoff on Saturday.
